The 'Twilight Zone' episode that ran along these lines is still one of my all time favourites.

“Look. The Alien’s have left a book.”

“Can you translate it?”

…some time later.

“So far, we have only been able to translate the title. It is called, ‘How to Serve Humans.’”

“That’ll do for me. You’re research grant is cancelled, Professor Xeno Linguist. We know they mean us no harm. Xgsghdytll, you can begin transporting our population to your paradise planet now.”

I vaugely remember an episiode of a similar kinda thing (can't have been twilight zone - i am not of that generation) but it was the over way round - the yanks attack alien, alien responds in kind, only far more distructive- Earth about to be blown up - turn up aliens had come in peace. there may have been more to it, i just can't remember

I'd guess that Al also watches The Outer Limits.
